According to this report, the NSA doesn't track cellphone location data and store it the same way it has allegedly been collecting call records under the now infamous secret programs that Edward Snowden blew the whistle on. But do you believe that they would invest so heavily in a massive surveillance program and then exclude such a key, useful section of the data?  I don't believe it one bit, but how will we know?  Quick, turn your phone off!!!

Funny you mention that, as I find it ironic that the people screaming the loudest about their communication data (consisting of phone numbers, times, lengths, but not even content) being accessed by the government are the same ones allowing Google and Facebook to literally robo-read the content of every email in order to personalise their advertising. Considering these companies almost always bend over and fess up the data when the gov't asks...which is more dangerous?

  • So, what if I turn off my phone....and go right back to typing this where almost everything is visible to agencies with enough clearance. But I agree, why would you let all that great stuff get stopped short of mobiles. More likely, the best location finders in the world are actively seeking your permission to do so every time you turn on a new one....
